<h3>The opportunity </h3>
<p>On award, Lexica worked closely with the College and the technical subcontractor to develop and deliver a robust Salix-compliant heat decarbonisation plan. </p>
<p>Several site surveys were conducted to inform an options appraisal to select the most appropriate and efficient means to achieve net zero by the government’s target of 2050. </p>
<p>The heat decarbonisation plan built upon the College’s progress to date and analysed the current conditions of buildings, facilities and heating systems. </p>
<p>This identified opportunities for improvement, such as the implementation of suitable technologies (e.g. air source heat pumps) to decarbonise the estate, but also identifying opportunities for further improvements to reduce reliance on grid electricity by increasing on-site renewable energy. </p><h3>Our impact<br /></h3>
<p>This resulted in Salix commending our heat decarbonisation plan as best practice, due to its adherence to stringent Salix criteria. The plan will enable the College to apply for PSDS funding in the future to implement the recommended decarbonisation interventions.</p>
